Streets & Drainage
Public Works Director
The Street/Drainage Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all public streets and alleys and all public drainage ways and related facilities in the city. With the exception of the State Highways, the street crews are responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of traffic control devices, (i.e. signs, markings and signals); patching of holes in streets; and, in the case of storms or fallen trees, it is this department that responds to assist the community with the needed cleanup of debris.
Routine daily activities include; mowing, cleaning, and dredging of unimproved channels and bar ditches, and the removal of debris from culverts, inlets and bridges. This department also assists the Sanitation Department during peak periods with large/heavy trash pick up.
