Water Production
Primary activity of the Water Production Division is to produce and provide potable water as required by State regulations.   Maintenance of equipment and operational activities must be maintained on a 24-hour basis in order to meet State requirements for potable water.  The City of Clute has an agreement with the Brazosport Water Authority to purchase 1,000,000 gallons of surface water daily.  The surface water is supplemented by the City’s water wells.  Storage capacity for potable water includes one (1) 750,000 gallon elevated storage tank and one (1) 1,000,000 gallon ground storage tank.  The city pumps approximately 1,200,000 gallons per day.

Water Distribution
Responsibility of the Water Distribution division is to maintain an adequate water distribution system from the city water supply to customers.  The customer’s responsibility is from the water meter to the home or business.   The City’s responsibility includes the installation and maintenance of all water lines, mains, valves, fire hydrants, taps and loops within the city’s rights-of-way and easements.  The Water Distribution department installs water service main/lines to provide for increased load capacity and responds to customer complaints regarding water service.  The current water distribution system includes approximately 3,193 meters.

Wastewater Collection
The Wastewater Collection division is responsible for providing the transportation system from the customer facilities to the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  This transportation system consists of  sewer lines, manholes, and lift stations which this department maintains.  The customer’s responsibility is from the home to the city transportation system.  An average of  1,250 feet of sewer lines are repaired annually.
